The Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX) provides diverse assistance to the excess and surplus lines insurance industry. SLTX is charged by the Texas Legislature to collect data from surplus lines insurance policies filed in Texas. To complete this task, SLTX accomplishes the following functions: *Collect surplus lines insurance policies. Surplus lines agents or brokers must report to SLTX each surplus lines policy for which Texas is the home state of the insured. SLTX aggregates policy data and provides important statistical information on the Texas surplus lines market. *Review the financial condition of surplus lines insurers. Each year, SLTX analyzes the financial state of eligible insurers, and sends the results to the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). In turn, TDI determines which insurers will be included on the Texas Surplus Lines Insurers List. *Serve as a point of education. The SLTX website is a primary resource for the excess and surplus lines industry. SLTX distributes educational information to a variety of stakeholders, such as agents and brokers, state agencies, trade associations, and other industry partners, and provides quality customer service and technical assistance.
