The Sam Houston Area Council serves approximately 25,000 youth in 16 southeast Texas counties through the dedicated service and leadership of over 10,000 adult volunteers. Scouting is completely funded by the generosity of those who believe in its mission. Support of Scouting provides programs, services, professional support, as well as year-round outdoor programs -- all designed to lead youth to lifelong values, service, and achievement. Scouting teaches values and the importance of having strong beliefs, making good choices and striving for the highest of ideals. At every regular meeting, a Scout recites the Scout Oath, which reminds Scouts of their duties to God, their country and their communities. The Scout Law pledges young men and women to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. Scouting teaches practical first aid skills, swimming, canoeing, backpacking and camping, as well as a love and respect for the outdoors. Scouting teaches kindness -- and urges Scouts to do a good turn daily for others. The Sam Houston Area Council's services area includes the following counties of Southeast Texas: Austin, Brazos, Burleson, (portion of) Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Grimes, Harris, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, (portion of) Trinity, Walker, Waller, Washington, and Wharton.

Our Clubs are for children ages 6-17. Children can become members for only $5.00 annually. Fifteen Clubs are located in the Greater Houston region, including Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris and Waller counties. Through contributions from corporations, foundations, government grants and individuals, the Clubs are able to offer Houston-area youth a fun place to hang out with friends, enjoy a meal, participate in sports leagues, get help with their homework, learn computer skills, art skills and much, much more.
