Assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their everyday life. We strive to lead and mentor them to be successful members of the community. Comcare provides person centered services in a variety of residential and day settings based upon the individual needs of people in our community. Comcare provides homes in Greeneville, Johnson City and Erwin, Tennessee. These services are provided in ICF-MR group homes, Supported Living homes and Family Model homes. Comcare provides a variety of day services for the people who live in our homes and to other individuals in the community. These services, which are provided at the facility or in the community, are designed to provide them with a meaningful day. Many of the people in our day program assemble piece work for a local industry. This work is very rewarding because they can work at their own pace while being productive and earning a paycheck. Other individuals spend their day at the program doing fine motor tasks, exercise, music and sensory activities and community outings. Twenty-five individuals have jobs in the community through the Supported Employment section of Comcare’s day program. Each person has a job coach who supports them to do their job. These individuals are employed at McDonalds, Tusculum College, the Rest Area on the interstate, Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn, 4-H Camp, YMCA, Mama’s House, Fazolis and several cleaning jobs.

Eliada was founded in 1903 by Rev. Lucius Compton as a home for unwed mothers. Often these women would implore him to keep their children and raise them. By 1906, he realized that to make a real difference in the cycle of poverty, he had to start with the children. Dr. Compton founded Eliada to serve the children he called “the least, last, and lost.” For many years, Eliada was a self-sufficient farm, growing food and raising cows for the Biltmore Dairy operation. As the times changed, so did Eliada. While no longer an orphanage, today Eliada cares for more than 600 of WNC's most vulnerable children and youth. FAMILY FOSTER CARE & THERAPEUTIC FOSTER CARE Children are cared for by an Eliada Foster Family while awaiting adoption or reunification with biological family. DAY TREATMENT Children attend school at Eliada instead of public school to better meet their special learning needs. WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Older teens who’ve spent their lives in foster care gain work skills while learning to be self-sufficient adults. EARLY LEARNING Children in the community learn and grow in our five-star Child Development Center, 21st Century Community Learning Center afterschool program, and NC Pre-K program.
