WEXCO SENIOR SERVICES
WEXCO SENIOR SERVICES

Our Mission: The Foundation for Senior Services is a 501(c)3 public charity whose mission is to provide seniors and their families with education, options and resources so they can choose quality care and assistance that will help preserve their independence. We have first-hand knowledge of the complex and confusing array of issues that today’s seniors must navigate in order to get quality care and assistance, and to live safely and cared for. The Foundation of Senior Services purpose is to provide this support to seniors in the local communities and municipalities we serve, without consideration of social and cultural differences. Our senior population continues to grow rapidly, and over the next two decades, it is estimated to increase by 87 percent. The oldest Baby Boomers are now in their late 60s, and this group will require increasing levels of services and support in the immediate future, and a growing percentage are living alone, and many without private or public insurance. The Administration on Aging projects that by 2030, 19.3 percent of the population (72.1 million people) will be aged sixty-five years or older, more than twice the number in 2000 and up from approximately 13.1 percent in 2010. The US Census projects the US population aged sixty-five and older to grow to over 83.7 million by 2050. The policy implications of our aging population are wide-ranging. More seniors will have some difficulties with self-care, and those requiring nursing home care will significantly increase. The projected growth in nursing home residents and in seniors with self-care limitations will also require a larger health care workforce, and the college systems will play a critical role in training more qualified workers focused on the senior population. The Foundation for Senior Services and Senior Specialists Group (SSG) chapters are positioned to support the growth of the aging population, by providing community-based resources for seniors and their families including education, community outreach, valuable informational resources and a team of vetted professional service providers and compassionate volunteers to assist at every level of senior care. These services range from in-home care, medical, legal, emotional, financial and placement services, along with home repairs, meals, transportation, medical supplies and equipment. To circumvent both governmental budget concerns and potential healthcare crises, the Foundation for Senior Services works in conjunction with various agencies to connect resources and supplement clients’ funding so services can be readily obtained and utilized on behalf of our clients. Our goal is to spearhead a community- based, cooperative effort to meet the growing needs of our senior population, and to keep seniors living safely and well cared for in their homes for as long as possible.
