Following World War I Walter Sweeney became Cincinnati's first used car dealer operating several locations. Walter's automotive background helped to give Jake Sr. the foundation to begin building his own career. After 1945 he opened his first used car lot in downtown Cincinnati. In 1956 Jake formed Jake Sweeney Auto Leasing and also established a lease by mail business. Little did anyone realize at the time but this was the birth of Auto Leasing in the United States.
