The mission of the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center is to develop, promote, and implement sound economic strategies to improve the quality of life of rural North Carolinians. The Center serves the state's 80 rural counties, with a special focus on individuals with low to moderate incomes and communities with limited resources. Created in 1987, the Rural Center operates a multi-faceted program that includes conducting research into rural issues; advocating for policy and program innovations; and building the productive capacity of rural leaders, entrepreneurs, and community organizations. The Bloomingdale Fire Department is compromised of two volunteer fire companies - a Ladder Company and Engine Company. The department operates from two stations, Station 1 is located at the Bloomingdale Public Safety Complex on Union Avenue with Station 2 located at Borough Hall on Hamburg Turnpike. The department operates two engines, a squad, and ladder along with several support vehicles. Ladder 664, Engine 662, Car 668, and our antique "The USA"​ are housed at Station 1 with Squad 663 and Engine 661 housed at Station 2.

Formerly known as the Onslow County Partnership for Children (OCPC), One Place is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has been serving families of Onslow County and surrounding communities for more than 25 years. By partnering with community and government organizations, we strive to improve the lives of children and families by connecting them with high-quality resources for child care, early education, and child abuse prevention and intervention.

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Here is what makes us special: Dedicated youth facility - A Boys & Girls Club is a place—an actual neighborhood-based building— designed solely for youth development purposes. Open daily - The Club is open after every school day and on Saturdays, when kids have free time and need positive, productive outlets. Professional staff - Every Club has full-time, trained youth development professionals— providing role models and mentors. Part-time staff and volunteers provide key supplementary support. Available and affordable to all youth - Clubs reach out to kids who cannot afford, or may lack access to, other community programs. Membership fees are low, only $7.50 per year to join.
