Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in our community who are hurting and struggling. We assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. We work to achieve social justice in our community and to create a better understanding of those we serve.

RCIL is a civil rights organization offering a wide range of independent living and advocacy services for and — most importantly — with people with disabilities. Care Design NY is a Care Coordination Organization/Health Home (CCO/HH) in New York State. We provide person-centered comprehensive care management services for 27,000 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) in 30 New York State counties, so they may lead a quality life. Care Design NY utilizes a person-centered and holistic service planning approach focused on desired outcomes by coordinating and delivering integrated supports and services with individual, family and provider input. The House of the Good Shepherd was founded in 1872 in Utica, New York to help meet the needs of local children and families. Since then, The House has evolved with the changing child welfare system. We have grown into a comprehensive human service agency providing treatment to more than 600 children and their families a year. Our goal is to help children and families, who are struggling with serious emotional, social and behavioral problems, discover their ability to succeed. Children and families who arrive at The House often have exhausted every available option for remaining together. Our main location is on a 27-acre campus at 1550 Champlin Avenue in Utica, New York. The House currently employs 400 full- and part-time staff and has more than 200 volunteers and student interns. The House of the Good Shepherd is classified as a non-sectarian, non-profit corporation, and is designated as a 501(c)3 charitable institution. Capital District Beginnings is a NYS Education Department approved Preschool Special Education Service Agency as well as an Evaluator and Provider of Early Intervention and contracted school-age Special Education Services. Beginnings currently provides a wide array of special education and therapy services to children in their homes or in one of over 70 different child care centers, preschools, and schools including Universal Pre-Kindergartens and Head Start programs. Established in 1984, Beginnings has become one of the largest early childhood special needs providers in the Greater Capital Region. However we might not be easy to recognize due to our unique model of integration. Instead of bringing children with special needs to separate centers, we provide services where children are typically living, learning, and playing. We accomplish our mission of true integration by supporting and blending into existing early childhood programs and community settings through long standing education and community partnerships. We are able to provide a variety of individualized, high-quality educational and therapeutic services for children from birth to five-years-old with special needs, and also provide support to their families. Beginnings uses a child-centered philosophy incorporating learning through play. We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate, support, and strengthen existing high-quality Pre-School and Universal Pre-K programs through strong, collaborative teaching partnerships. In 1929, a group of concerned and dedicated citizens in Utica, N.Y. recognized a need in the community and rose to a noble challenge: to help people who were blind and visually impaired. Aspiring to a greater good, they founded the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI). Their mission then was to assist people who are blind or visually impaired to achieve their highest levels of independence. It remains so today. CABVI continues to operate as a not-for-profit agency that serves people who are blind or visually impaired, from newborns to the elderly, generally free of charge. We offer comprehensive vision rehabilitation, employment and technology services personally tailored to meet an individual's needs.
