PARADIGM PHYSICAL THERAPY & WELLNESS, INC.
Los Lunas, New Mexico
25-49 employees
Locally owned and operated, Paradigm Physical Therapy and Wellness has served Los Lunas and Belen since 1996. We are pleased to include as of 2017 the South Valley as our third clinic. Paradigm's Evaluation Framework: BIOMECHANICS - the science of the internal and external forces acting on the human body and the effects produced by these forces. Our therapists perform detailed examination of not only a specific joint but also associated segments and the interconnection of structure and motion related to dysfunction. All tissue structure and physiology are considered from bone, joint surfaces, connective and neural tissue, and muscle. NEUROMUSCULAR - the interaction of, relating to, or affecting both nerves and muscles. Evaluation of the interaction of the nervous system and muscle function is essential to understanding movement pathology. Our nervous systems (out take to different n.s.) change and adapt with injury and can overly excite or completely inhibit muscle recruitment. This can affect posture and structural alignment, joint position, create reflexive muscle guarding and strain patterning, and increase pain. NEURODYNAMIC/NEURAL MOBILITY - the motility and changeability of nervous system tissues, including the brain as it relates to movement and other systems. Here we examine of the sensitivity of the nervous system through specific neural length-tension abnormalities and over-stimulation patterning that is part of a feedback mechanism. Nerve sensitivity is altered with injury resulting in structural malpatterning, stress and abnormal physical representation of pain in the brain. TREATMENTS - Our treatment approach uses highly specific interventions derived from the evaluative process and based on best evidence of practice. This may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, proprioceptive training, and comprehensive education.
