DIETZ & WATSON, INC.
DIETZ & WATSON, INC.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Dietz and Watson was founded in 1939 by Gottlieb Dietz, a talented young German sausage maker. His primary goal was to produce the most flavorful, highest quality deli meats in the marketplace, to please even the most discriminating palate. His old-world recipes and commitment to “quality above all” demanded nothing less than the freshest lean beef, ham, pork turkey breast and chicken breast. He then added only the finest all-natural spices and seasonings gathered from around the world. Today, at Dietz & Watson, the third generation of the family continues Gottlieb Dietz’s dedication and commitment in preparing our Premium Deli Meats and Artisan Cheeses. In fact, all of our standards exceed those set by government guidelines. Our mission is always both perfection and originality. This is how we prepare wholesome, nutritious and uniquely premium meats. And, our Master cheese makers create our hand-churned, small batch cheeses with the same commitment to “quality above all”.

Mickey Schwartz began selling ice cream in 1929 from a wooden box carried over his shoulder. He founded Jack & Jill Ice Cream Company on the commitment to provide great customer service and quality products. Not long after the first street vending truck was purchased in 1938, the company grew into a successful street vending and vending machine business. Mickey’s son Jay saw great opportunities in wholesale distribution and Jack & Jill Ice Cream Company began distributing leading regional and national brands in the Delaware Valley, eventually expanding to Baltimore and Washington D.C. In the early 1980’s, the JACK & JILL® brand novelties were introduced. Shortly after, the JACK & JILL® ice cream product line grew beyond classic novelties to premium ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet and water ice. As the marketplace continued to change in the early 2000’s, the company focused on impulse and out-of home markets. This further expanded their presence in the Mid-Atlantic region. Jack & Jill Ice Cream Company then began to expand its product offering beyond ice cream. Today, Jack & Jill Ice Cream Company continues to be a family owned business and is currently under the direction of Jay’s son Ken. They now distribute Jack & Jill brands as well as other regional and national brands of ice cream treats, frozen foods and beverages to a host of customers in the Mid-Atlantic region. Because of this focus and shift in the business, the company is now known as Jack & Jill DSD. A lot has changed since 1929, however the commitment to provide great customer service and quality products remain the same.
