We are a not-for-profit organization that has been partnering with schools, districts, states, and foundations for more than fifteen years to transform schools into more engaging, rigorous, and caring places for students to learn and teachers to teach. Our work is organized around five core reform strategies – strengthening instruction, using data effectively, creating personalized small learning communities, advocating for students and families, and building capacity to strengthen and sustain reform – that make up a comprehensive and evidenced-based reform framework called First Things First. We work with our partners to identify the strategies and supports that best meet their needs, and are equipped to provide support for the implementation of all five strategies or to customize intensive supports around select strategies.
