Project Harmony Child Protection Center is a community-based organization providing child-friendly, centralized and integrated child abuse assessment and investigation for children throughout eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Project Harmony works with state human services and local law enforcement agencies to protect the child and prosecute the offender. This past year, 8,064 children sought services at Project Harmony. Since the opening of Project Harmony in 1996 more than 64,000 children have received vital services in prevention and child abuse assessment, investigation and treatment referral. Prosecution rates have increased and abused children and their families are able to get professional help in the process of healing. The Project Harmony Training Institute was established in 2007 and since that time more than 30,000 students, citizens and professionals have been taught the best methods to assess and respond to children and their families who have been impacted by abuse and neglect. Project Harmony and its partner agencies work together to serve families throughout the communities of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. This collaborative effort provides effective, immediate and sensitive support to child victims and their non-offending family members, improved communication and case resolution.

Goodwill Industries, Inc., Serving Eastern Nebraska and Southwest Iowa, has been a leader in helping people fulfill their dreams through work since 1933. Our mission is to train and employ people with disabilities and others who may be at a competitive disadvantage in the job market. We do this by selling value-priced merchandise at 17 convenient locations in Omaha, Bellevue, Papillion, Fremont, Blair, Gretna and Council Bluffs. Although many people know Goodwill as a place to donate used clothing and household items, they may not realize that their donations sold in our retail stores fund programs that give thousands of formerly unemployed individuals the opportunity to earn a living and the chance to succeed in life. Goodwill provides opportunities for individuals with barriers to self-sufficiency through a variety of job opportunities and employment programs, including AbilityOne, YouthBuild AmeriCorps, Employment Solutions and Work Experience. Child Saving Institute (CSI) was founded in 1892 and has been dedicated to the needs of children and families in the greater Omaha area for over 131 years. CSI's programming is diverse, but so are the needs of today's children and youth. Services address the prevention, intervention and healing from child abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, annually the organization serves over 3,000 kids and families each year.

Family Service Lincoln is a 501(c)3, founded in 1891 as the first charitable organization in Lincoln, Nebraska. The programming provided by Family Service has evolved over the years to meet the needs of families and fit the current conditions in our community. In 2021, we provided case management, housing, behavioral health therapy, expanded learning opportunities, and nutrition programs to 7,213 individuals. Friendship Home exists to support, shelter and advocate for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Friendship Home Seeks To: Provide a continuum of safe, confidential shelter options—from emergency shelter through transitional shelter. Provide a rich array of crisis intervention services, case management, and emotional support to those we shelter as well as those who are waiting for shelter; helping them to rebuild their lives, free from fear. Address the many complexities and barriers associated with domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking on an individual level as well as a community systems level. Continue to reach out to survivors through individual advocacy, emergency case management, and support groups after they leave shelter, offering an environment where survivors feel welcome and are encouraged to share their stories and their wisdom with others.

People’s City Mission was started in 1907 by local churches, offering food and shelter for transient and impoverished men, women and children. Today, the People’s City Mission is Lincoln’s primary homeless shelter housing 350 men, women, and children on an average day. PCM provides emergency and transitional housing to both men and families (including single mothers). The Help Center, opened in 1990, takes the donations our community gives us and distributes them to low-income families within the community for no cost. Here we collect and then distribute food, clothing, household items, furniture, toys, and personal care items. Textiles that are damaged or unwanted are recycled, with funds going back into supporting the services of the Mission. We give away the best and recycle the rest.
