The Scott Carver Dakota Community Action Partnership (CAP) Agency’s vision is to create a strong community with healthy individuals and families, quality education, safe and affordable housing, and work that dignifies. Our mission is to assist and empower people to achieve social and economic well-being by providing services in partnership with our communities. Annually, we provide 50,000 individuals with the assistance needed to achieve social and economic well-being. The Scott Carver Dakota CAP Agency is one of 28 community action agencies in the state of Minnesota and is part of a national network of over 1,000 agencies. We utilize a comprehensive service delivery method, which allows us to work in partnership with the communities we serve. We work with individuals and families to understand all of their needs and then provide programs and services to ensure they are successful in achieving economic and social well-being. The comprehensive service delivery method provides a single point of entry for all services and programs, comprehensive assessment, joint case planning & management, and co-location of services.

Minnesota Valley Action Council (MVAC) it the community action agency that serves the nine counites of South Central Minnesota. MVAC utilizes various state and federal programs to offer birth to 5 preschool; employment training programs for seniors and at risk youth; energy assistance program; weatherization; homeless prevention; rental assistance; and home improvement loans. MVAC also has two thrift stores and a vehicle donation program

VINE Faith in Action was established in February 1995, as an interfaith volunteer caregiving organization serving older adults, people with disabilities and individuals and families encountering difficult life situations. VINE is a network of faith congregations, organizations and individuals providing volunteer assistance in the Minnesota River Valley of South Central Minnesota. The VINE Adult Community Center offers a variety of fun and interesting activities to appeal to adults age 55+. Events include such things as book clubs, speakers, bus trips, celebrations, special dinners and social and recreational activities. In addition to the recreational and social activities provided, we offer a variety of different health and fitness classes. Our professional staff coordinates a variety of fitness programs to help people connect with friends and neighbors and enjoy physical, emotional and spiritual wellness throughout their later years. The VINE Home Thrift Store offers gently-used home furnishings at reasonable prices. Items that we sell include; household furniture of all kinds, electrical appliances, kitchen items, lamps & light fixtures, pictures & framed art, electronics, linens, knick knacks and a variety of other household items. All proceeds remain in the community and benefit the charitable work of VINE Faith in Action.

CADA provides safety and support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through community engagement, advocacy, shelter, supervised parenting time services, and therapeutic support. CADA coordinates services across eight counties in south central Minnesota to address domestic abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking through education about the violence manifested in societal norms and behaviors like teen dating violence, battering, rape, child abuse, sexual assault, and the trafficking of women and children. CADA began as a small grassroots group of women working out of their homes, raising funds and applying for grants that later led to opening our first shelter on Second Street in Mankato. The renovated shelter had its first occupant on August 3, 1981. This building served as the shelter until August 1, 1997, when CADA moved into its new facility on Stadium Court. The first CADA shelter served 1,751 battered women and 1,088 more battered women have stayed at the new shelter through September, 2006.

Our holistic approach to lifelong support is unlike any other adoption and child welfare agency in the nation. Our team of social workers, counselors, and outreach staff offer trustworthy, ethical, and lifelong support to tens of thousands of people touched by adoption, including birth parents, adopted persons, and adoptive parents. Services include options counseling for women facing unplanned pregnancies, pre and post adoption education for parents, an adoption-competent clinical therapy program, outreach and education, and placement services. The Cradle is the only adoption agency in the country with an on-site nursery. It is a safe, neutral place for infants to stay while their parents take the time they need to decide if adoption will be the plan for this child. The nursery also enables The Cradle to place infants whose special medical needs may mean that it takes a bit longer to find them a home that is prepared to help them thrive.
