Since 1958 The Guidance Center has been committed to its mission to: Nurture development. Foster resilience. Cultivate well-being. Throughout the last six decades the agency has maintained a collaborative relationship with its local communities and schools to support adults and children experiencing mental health difficulties and other challenges. A group of concerned residents and educators recognized the need for mental health services in our area and joined forces in 1958 to help form The Guidance Center. Since then we have worked as a team to respond to the needs of children, adults and families in southeast Michigan. The agency operates a wide range of programs and services at 23 locations. Our expertise in mental health and wellness, early childhood education, free preschool for low-income families, developmental disabilities services and support, mentoring, substance use disorder, workforce development, Kids-TALK Children's Advocacy Center (CAC), Champions of Wayne, the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), and research and evaluation helps more than 15,000 members of our community annually work on their own personal triumphs in life.

A BRIEF HISTORY Founded in 1971… Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency (Wayne Metro) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving approximately 35,000 low-and moderate-income residents throughout Wayne County. We provide over 60 programs in the areas of Quality Housing, Family Stability and Economic Opportunities. Our services include financial capability education, homeownership workshops, housing counseling, financial counseling, utility assistance, Head Start, GED preparation, free tax preparation, foreclosure prevention and homeless services. Over the last five decades… our Agency budget has grown from just under $1 million to over $40 million while continuing to maintain a low administrative rate of 8%, ensuring at least $0.92 of every funded or donated dollar is utilized for direct client services. Due to our client-centered services and fiscal responsibility, the State of Michigan appointed Wayne Metro as the Interim Communication Action Agency for the City of Detroit in 2013 with the designation becoming permanent in 2015. Today! Wayne Metro supports all of Wayne County with more than 60 programs and over 600 employees. PACE stands for Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. The support and services we provide allow older adults to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. Our interdisciplinary team approach is a unique model of care that allows our staff to personally get to know participants and their caregivers. Our team meets on a daily basis to proactively communicate and coordinate holistic care to prevent avoidable emergency visits, hospitalizations and nursing home placements, thus providing higher quality care. PACE Southeast Michigan serves Wayne, Macomb and Oakland Counties.

CLS is a private, not-for-profit organization promoting inclusion, full citizenship and a self-determined life for people with developmental disabilities. CLS, Inc. provides supports and services to over 2,700 adults and children in Wayne County. CLS also has an office in Oakland County and one in Louisville, Kentucky.
