For the last 30 years in Lucas County and Northwest Ohio, there has been an alternative for people with no options, a history of mental illness, or of substance use – Neighborhood Properties Inc. NPI began providing permanent supportive housing in 1988 as a product of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Program on Chronic Mental Illness. Through the Foundation's investment, NPI and eight other sister organizations across the country piloted a new housing practice that would become known as permanent supportive housing. Since then NPI has utilized Federal, State, and local public and private resources to sustain safe, decent, stable, and affordable housing for people living with a major mental illness. WELLNESS & RECOVERY CENTER In 2018, NPI opened the first program of its kind in Ohio, the Wellness & Recovery Center (WRC).
