THE LIFE IS GOOD COMPANY
THE LIFE IS GOOD COMPANY
Hudson, New Hampshire

One van. Two brothers. Three simple words: Life is Good. For five years, Bert and John Jacobs drove up and down the East Coast, selling their t-shirt designs on the streets and in college dorms. They slept in their van, lived on PB&J, and showered when they could. The adventure was great, but sales were, uh, lacking. In 1994, with just $78 to their names, Bert and John designed their first Life is Good t-shirt to counter the negative news—and discovered how those three simple words could inspire people to focus on the good. The brothers stumbled forward, making mistakes left and right, but the power of that one idea was just too strong to get wrong. Letters and emails started rolling in from customers who found strength, simple wisdom, or a much-needed laugh in Life is Good. This diverse, ever-growing community continues to inspire our mission: To spread the power of optimism. 25 years into the ride, we celebrate these optimists and all the ordinary, extraordinary things they love.

The farm’s aim is to be the best at what we do and to be good to and for one another. We grow plants, lots of plants, but just a small selection from the vast array of created plant life. Spring – Over 200 species of annual, perennial and vegetable plants for garden and containers. Our operation is teeming with plants, the aroma of fresh earth and colors presented in countless shades. Summer and Fall – Mums everywhere, inside and outside, along with cool weather annuals and fall flowering perennials, our part in the panorama of autumn. Christmas in July? Yes, we begin propagating our poinsettias at this time, a crop that requires diligent care and tests our skill in growing. Winter – Nature’s rest and ours too. We prepare for winter by maintaining our facility, shipping our poinsettias, starting our Easter lilies and, in the cold abbreviated days of December, we begin the placement of seeds and nurturing of plants for the spring. All in all a splendid way to make a living.
