Katahdin Railcar Services, LLC is a certified tank and railcar repair, cleaning, testing, and heavy repair shop. KRS is certified by the Orthodox Union as Kosher certified car cleaning facility as well. Our Tank Car Cleaning system is a state of the art automated, hi-pressure water jet system. Truly a one-stop shop for all repair needs; we can clean, test, certify, repair, replace, perform all running repairs and provide storage options as needed. No longer will you need to send a car to one location to be cleaned, another for valve replacement, and then another for storage. This will reduce the shipping costs moving from shop to shop and the down time on equipment allowing for increased utilization of assets. KRS is located in Milo, Maine on our 130-acre campus. Our tank shop is located in a fully refurbished 25,000 sq. ft. building with multiple cleaning bays, 10 working car spots, and a full valve repair shop. We have a full wastewater treatment plant installed on site to handle disposal of dirty water and the ability to steam and flare multiple cars at a time. We also have a 36,000-sq. ft. car repair facility on site to handle running repairs and other contract work with 15 car spots. KRS also has a 24,000 sq. ft. locomotive repair ship with elevated tracks and full drop table that is available to handle contract locomotive repair. KRS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Central Maine & Quebec Railway. Being part of and located on the railway allows KRS to be able to handle inbound and outbound unit trains or can store single cars waiting to assemble into an outbound unit train. We also have local scrap/recycling customers located on our rail to handle all your scrapping needs.
