Katayama American Company Inc. was founded in September of 1988 in the city of Shelbyville, Kentucky. Since the start of production at the facility in August of 1989, KACI has steadily established a reputation for being one of the most recognizable manufacturers of automotive exterior parts in North America. The parent company of KACI, Katayama Kogyo Co., LTD. was founded in 1947 by Kakuji Katayama in the city of Ibara, Okayama, Japan. Katayama Kogyo’s first product was automotive exhaust flexible tubes followed rapidly by thermo tubing and other tube related products. From this humble beginning we have steadily added over the years other automotive exterior parts such as door sashes and moldings.
