The Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives (IAEC) represents 36 distribution cooperatives and 8 generation and transmission cooperatives which power the lives of 650,000 Iowans every day.
Formed by the rural electric cooperatives in 1942, IAEC performs many vital functions for its members, including:
- legislative representation at the state and national levels
- safety programs, demonstrations and campaigns
- energy efficiency programs
- education and training programs
- communication resources and services
- youth leadership and advocacy
- statewide disaster planning and power restoration
- review and monitoring of utility regulations
- publish and distribute Living with Energy in Iowa, a monthly magazine for rural Iowans
