Credit Advisors Foundation’s mission is to eradicate the causes and consequences of ineffective consumer debt management through education, training and programs delivered with the highest level of customer service and dignity free from all forms of discrimination. Speakers Bureau- CAF has provided many schools, community organizations, government agencies and employers with seminars and workshops on credit and debt issues as they pertain to their target populations. In 2009, CAF speakers and trainers completed 38 sessions. HUD Housing Counseling- CAF’s delivery of housing counseling is unique in its timely response to individuals who are seeking to transition into home ownership. Clients can make one-on-one appointment at the time and manner of their choosing. Most opt for in-office appointments and Credit Advisors Foundation provided 427 sessions in 2009. Web Site as Educational Resource/Publications- Available are resources addressing the most commonly asked questions; reference articles; “Ask Michaela” where questions and requests can be submitted directly to our Program Director; and DMP clients can access and update information such as balances and recent payments. CAF offers free subscription to monthly broadcast e-mails covering topics related credit management, debt reduction, and financial education. In 2009, these e-mails reached over 71,000 recipients monthly. DMP- Currently, 2,476 plans are under supervision at CAF. Persons on DMPs have regularly scheduled reviews for creditor acceptance, rate of debt reduction, and credit report improvement. They are encouraged to participate in the seminars, classes and client review board meetings offered. Counseling Activities- Certified credit counselors are available to help clients in person, over the phone or through the internet 6 day per week. During 2009, over 60,000 persons contacted CAF for assistance with their questions and concerns about credit and debt.
