Since 1837, St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf has provided intensive services to children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families. Armed with the outstanding support of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ), generations of children have walked through our doors with their hopeful parents in tow. Our services, rooted in the CSJ’s philosophy to serve all, provide Listening and Spoken language intervention to children with hearing loss. Coupled with state-of-the art hearing technology, children who receive our services learn to listen, speak, and eventually read. These services allow children who are deaf and hard of hearing to fully participate in our highly communicative society. Thousands of students later, St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf is changing the way the world thinks about those with hearing loss as our graduates become physicians, teachers, accountants, and more!
