Special Olympics Florida provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, at no cost to the athlete or their caregiver, as a means to achieve physical fitness, self-esteem, socialization skills, and the life skills necessary to be a productive, respected and contributing members of their communities. Founded by the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics is the world’s largest program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, serving 3.7 million people in more than 170 countries. In Florida, 25,000 athletes train and compete year round, in 20 different team and individual sports of their choice. Founded in 1972, Special Olympics Florida is a certified 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization funded solely through the generosity of individuals, businesses and civic groups. This support allows Special Olympics to never charge the athlete or their families a fee for participation.

We are thrilled to announce that Tampa Lighthouse for the Blind is now Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision! The support of the community over the years has meant a great deal to the clients we serve and has been critical in helping us continue to provide comprehensive, quality programs and services that allow our clients to maximize their independence in the home, in the community, at school, and/or in the workplace. We feel it was important to express a clearer description of who — not only those who are blind but those who have low vision — and where we serve. The removal of “Tampa” from our name reduces confusion as to where we serve since our geographical footprint includes Hillsborough, Polk, and Hardee counties, as well as specialized rehabilitation engineering services throughout the state. This change will help bring more definition of our agency within the community, as we continue our mission to maximize and guide those with vision loss to the independence we all deserve. The rebranding includes a redesign of our logo, tagline, website, printed materials, and other marketing communications. New brand assets include a clean, blue and yellow logo, and the tagline: Guiding to Independence. It was extremely important to give attention to the design elements, as blind or vision-impaired clients are our agency’s core audience. We are thankful for the clients, donors, employees, and parents who were all engaged in the months-long process of narrowing down the choices for the renaming, logo and tagline to ensure that each audience was represented.

Central Florida Cares Health System, Inc. (CFCHS) is a not-for-profit organization contracted by the Florida Department of Children and Families to oversee state-funded mental health and substance abuse treatment services in Circuits 9 and 18 (Brevard, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties). As a managing entity we are a behavioral health administrative and management organization, and our primary focus is to promote a comprehensive, seamless system of recovery and resiliency to those individuals in our community who are in need of these services.

- Managed a caseload of 30 adults referred to the agency by the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation - Coached clients creating career goals, finding employment and networking with employers - Assisted clients in creating and updating resumes and cover letters, and providing interview preparation - Located barriers to client employment and aid clients in developing strategies for overcoming these barriers - Maintained contact with clients during job placements to resolve problems and evaluate placement adequacy - Collaborated with employers to identify employment opportunities relating to client’s interest and abilities - Researched labor market and trends and assist clients to find employment opportunities related to their goals

Meals On Wheels of Tampa serves seniors and homebound individuals a hot, nutritious meal delivered right to their doorstep by a caring volunteer. The daily hot meal provides NOURISHMENT for the body. The kind greeting from a volunteer provides ENRICHMENT for the soul. Together, we STRENGTHEN our community by caring for neighbors who have difficulty leaving their homes. Meals On Wheels of Tampa is a privately funded, 4-Star Charity and a proud member of Meals On Wheels America.
