Created as a tax-exempt entity in 1972, Meridian has been a part of the lives of thousands as we provide a safety net for those in crisis, a source of effective treatment, and a contributor to the health of the entire community. Special Olympics Florida provides year-round sports training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, at no cost to the athlete or their caregiver, as a means to achieve physical fitness, self-esteem, socialization skills, and the life skills necessary to be a productive, respected and contributing members of their communities. Founded by the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics is the world’s largest program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, serving 3.7 million people in more than 170 countries. In Florida, 25,000 athletes train and compete year round, in 20 different team and individual sports of their choice. Founded in 1972, Special Olympics Florida is a certified 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization funded solely through the generosity of individuals, businesses and civic groups. This support allows Special Olympics to never charge the athlete or their families a fee for participation.

Mission - Seniors First enhances the quality of life of seniors by maintaining their independence and dignity. Seniors First targets services to highly vulnerable elderly populations age 60+ and disabled adults age 18-59, including the very old, people living alone, people below or near the poverty line, minority populations, and individuals with significant health conditions or mental impairments. The specific vulnerabilities include physical frailty, sensory decline, low education level, cognitive decline, lack of transportation, low social support and depression, which often require extensive intervention and advocacy. Central Florida seniors deserve our best efforts. Together we have the unique opportunity to enhance a senior’s quality of life by continuing to promote choice, independence, and positive aging. Our core programs are Nutrition Services, which include Meals On Wheels and Congregate Meals, supporting the nutritional needs of seniors and providing socialization opportunities. The Home Improvement program provides home repair and weatherization to low-income seniors. Other services include Guardianship for incapacitated adults, Transportation support for Congregate Meals, and Stepping Stone Medical Equipment Bank. Under the In-Home Care program, case managers assist clients with care plans which may include the following services: homemaker, personal care, companionship, respite, adult day care, emergency response, home modification/accessibility, medical supplies, and nutritional counseling. Our mission would never be accomplished without the support of our committed volunteers, the oversight and guidance given by the dedicated Board of Directors and the generosity of our funders, donors, staff, and caring community. At The Guest House we base our program on delving into the underlying issues that create the coping mechanisms of addiction and the trauma reactivity that is seen in anxiety, relationship dysfunction and somatic issues. We believe that if you understand what came before, everything else can be stabilized and true progress can be made. We believe in a multidimensional and individualized approach to treatment. Each one of our guests has a different story and history that created the circumstances that brings them to treatment. As a result, each of our guests require an individualized plan for their care. We use many different therapeutic modalities and discovering which is most effective for each guest and utilizing those approaches to help our clientele grow and heal. Our model can best be described as an attachment model, our motto is "love them back to health"​. We believe in a holistic approach healing the body with nutrition and exercise, the mind with therapy and the spirit with community and self discovery.

The purpose of the Early Learning Coalition of Seminole (ELC), now in its 19th year, is to invest in the future of our community, by investing in the lives of our children through the provision of quality early education and child care. By providing families with financial assistance for child care, we help to educate the next generation, which translates to higher employment and self-sufficiency for Seminole County families. In addition, we help all families with locating child care providers based on their needs, preference and available resources. We also offer developmental screenings to make sure children are reaching appropriate milestones as well as free vision and hearing screenings for children aged 0-4. Research has proven that early childhood education is essential for a child’s development of critical skills and provides a foundation for future success. We aim to improve opportunity and reduce stress on parents by offering affordable child care, which allows them to better contribute to the community while strengthening the life trajectory of the next generation. Through our partnerships with local agencies, we are able to fulfill our purpose by providing additional early intervention services such as trainings and evaluations for child care teachers and guidance for caregivers on locating early intervention resources. Providing these resources helps to alleviate the need for more expensive interventions later in a child’s life and save taxpayer dollars while boosting the local economy. Marion Senior Services, Inc., (MSS) assists the disabled and disadvantaged elderly residents of Marion County, Fla. to maintain independent living status by providing transportation, nutrition, and in-home support services. MSS is the county’s lead agency for the Department of Elder Affairs, impacting lives and creating change in our communities since 1973. In addition, MSS (operating as Marion Transit Services) has been the Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) in Marion County since 1982.
