Outreach United Resource Center, Inc. (OUR Center) is a Longmont, Colo.-based nonprofit that helps people move toward self-sufficiency by unifying community resources. Founded in 1986, the OUR Center is now the area's largest basic needs and self-sufficiency agency providing vital services including a food pantry, daily hot, nutritous meals, a clothing bank, programs for those who are homeless as well as homelessness prevention in an effort to help those in need in the greater Longmont area toward self-sufficiency. The organization’s staff provides case management, mentoring, and educational classes to help clients move beyond their current situations to become contributing members of the community. The OUR Center also operates Aspen Center for Child Development, which offers childcare and school readiness programs to children from six weeks to six years of age from families of all income levels. The OUR Center has a robust volunteer effort providing opportunities to more than 1,000 volunteers per year. Additionally, in 2011 alone, OUR Center received financial support from more than 1,500 donors and in-kind gifts from over 3,000 individual supporters. As a result, 86-percent of the organization’s total operating budget went directly to client services. Since being founded more than 26 years ago, OUR Center has provided tens of thousands of people with much-needed services and has become the leader in helping people move toward self-sufficiency.
