The CETF mission: close the Digital Divide in California by accelerating the deployment and adoption of broadband and other advanced communications services to unserved and underserved communities. CETF is a unique organization in the nation—no other state has a non-profit with a primary mission to close the Digital Divide by addressing the challenges of both “supply” and “demand” to increase the use of technologies enabled by ubiquitous high-speed Internet access. A vital catalyst, CETF brings diverse stakeholders together—elected officials and policymakers, regional and local civic leaders, community-based organizations (CBOs) and broadband providers—to address the challenges and many facets of the Digital Divide collectively. CETF concluded the first 10 years of operation in 2017 and published the Decade Report (www.cetfund.org). The Progress Report 2020 charts a course the new 5-Year Strategic Plan to achieve Digital Equity and documents accomplishments through 2020. Community Health Partnership, Inc. (also known as "CHP") was founded in 1993 in response to community concern for the viability of community-based, primary care health centers. By joining together in a local consortium, community health centers are able to enhance their services to low-income patients through the CHP’s collaborative projects. Initially serving Santa Clara County health centers, Community Health Partnership expanded into San Mateo County in 2004. It is widely recognized that community health centers serve as an essential “safety net” for the area’s most vulnerable residents. Ruby’s Place is a non-profit agency in Hayward, California that has provided shelter and supportive services since 1972 for families and individuals experiencing domestic violence and human trafficking. Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland (BGCO) is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization chartered and dedicated to developing its community’s youth into positive contributors to society. To that end, BGCO’s 3 flatland Oakland facilities are available and affordable to provide deserving kids and teens ages 6 to 17 with safe places to learn and grow; and where they can get the help needed to achieve academic success, develop good character and citizenship, and adopt healthy lifestyles. BGCO’s facilities feature library/learning centers, computer labs, social recreation spaces, teen centers, and full gymnasiums (the Anna Marie Branch on High Street features those already listed plus a stage for performing arts and a state-of-the-art music recording studio). Within its strategically located facilities, BGCO's full and part-time Program Directors coordinate a menu of youth development programs after school and year-round with assistance from teen staff and a dedicated corps of community volunteers. The structured programs, services, and activities that our teams deliver are fun, purposeful, and range from tutoring and homework assistance to seasonal team sports; and from STEM to defensive/safe driving. Our results are great students who are physically fit, fundamentally sound, exhibit positive leisure time habits, and graduate from high school on time.
