Civic Ventures is a small group of political troublemakers devoted to ideas, policies, and actions that catalyze significant social change. We are serial innovators in the civic sphere who favor the kind of big ideas that challenge conventional thinking. Though we promote many progressive concepts, we’re not beholden to the traditional political framework of liberal versus conservative; an idea’s value and utility should be more important than its origin. By thinking, writing, and acting outside the realm of conventional political discourse, Civic Ventures works to drive the conversation and fundamentally alter the status quo in Seattle, Washington state, and the United States.

Seacology is an international environmental nonprofit organization that focuses on saving endangered species, habitats and cultures of islands throughout the world. Indigenous people are all too often faced with the dilemma of choosing between protecting their precious natural resources, and economic development. Seacology searches for win-win situations where both the local environment is protected and islanders receive some tangible benefit for doing so.

The Synod of the Pacific is a mid council within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A). The Synod is currently made up of: 11 Presbyteries, 464 Churches + 20 new Church developments, 114,210 members. Its primary role is "to be a Mission Support Synod"​. This is accomplished through providing financial and administrative support services to its presbyteries and churches, the services currently offered are: Administrative and Personnel Services Financial Investment and Loan Opportunities Health & Benefit Opportunities Mission Treasury Service Receiving Site Multi-Presbytery gatherings and workshops Ecclesiastical functions

Revive & Restore is the leading conservation non-profit promoting the use of biotechnologies in conservation practice. The organization was formed in 2012 with the idea that 21st-century biotechnology can and should be used to increase genetic diversity, build disease resistance, facilitate adaptation, and more. The mission? To enhance biodiversity through the genetic rescue of endangered and extinct species. To achieve this, Revive & Restore takes on three distinct roles—convening experts, advancing research, and funding catalytic science. The group’s Catalyst Science Fund, launched in 2018 with a 3-year pledge from the Madison, Wisconsin biotech company Promega, supports transformative early-stage bio-science research and proof-of-concept projects.

The Middle East Children’s Alliance is a nonprofit organization working for the rights and the well-being of children in the Middle East. MECA supports dozens of community projects for Palestinian children and refugees from Syria. Since 1988 we have delivered $27 million in food and medical aid to Palestine, Iraq, and Lebanon. MECA welcomes the support of all people who care about children and their future.

Elevating communities, transforming care. CARESTAR"s Mission: To improve health outcomes for all Californians, we use a racial equity lens to fund and advocate for improvements to emergency and prehospital care. Our Vision: All Californians experience emergency and prehospital care that is equitable, unified and compassionate. The lives of people touched by trauma or injury dramatically improve because they receive the appropriate care, services and supports they need to heal and prevent re-injury.

The Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County invests in programs that support equitable access to culturally-sensitive healthcare and mental health services, and promote overall community wellness. We raise funds in support of underserved and vulnerable community members, from northern Santa Rosa to the Mendocino border.

Organized in 1920 to promote interest in the game of golf, the birth of this association was heralded as an important step to the advancement of the game in this district. The Northern California Section was granted a charter of affiliation by The PGA of America in October 1924 and is one of the forty-one designated sections of the PGA of America, the world's largest working sports organization. This Section provides support to its 1,100 dedicated PGA professionals and apprentices throughout Northern California and Northwestern Nevada in the following areas: Education, Employment, Professional Tournaments, and Marketing/PR Services. Through its NCPGA Foundation, the association is also committed to supporting numerous community outreach and player development programs conducted by highly trained PGA golf professionals at courses, clubs and range facilities throughout the section. The Northern California PGA is proud to be recognized as a progressive and model section within The PGA of America.

The foundation has raised and invested over $4 million dollars in our local schools to fund programs focused on science, art, engineering, technology, math, reading, culinary arts and gardening. Additionally, we provide resources to teachers and fund a pre-school education program.

I was the Chair of SVN until the merger with American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) in December 2022. I was then the Chair of ASBN through July 2023. Established in 1987, Social Venture Network (SVN) was one of the nation’s first and most influential peer organizations dedicated to demonstrating the ‘triple bottom line’ potential of valuing people, planet, and profit. Through yearly gatherings, peer circles, and structured mentoring, SVN provided inspiration for new ventures and helped incubate other key contributors to the social venture community including BSR, B Lab, Common Future, and Net Impact.
