Valley Oak Children’s Services is a dynamic organization focusing on healthy children, families, and a thriving community. We have a wide variety of services developed based on the needs of our community. Valley Oak Children’s Services was founded in 1980 as a private, non-profit organization, serving children and families in Butte County.

Bryan Burch, physical therapist, founded Burch PT in 1995. Bryan Burch PT, MS, OCS, SCS has over 30 years of experience as a physical therapist and is board certified as both an orthopaedic specialist and sports specialist. Burch Physical Therapy, Center for Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation has established itself as a regional center. Because of its staff's years of experience and expertise and its cutting-edge facility, Burch Physical Therapy serves patients throughout the North State. Our goal at Burch Physical Therapy is simple: provide the best rehabilitation care possible! The staff at Burch Physical Therapy consists of front office staff, fitness experts, and a rehabilitation team of licensed physical therapists and assistants. All of the rehabilitation staff has advanced training or specialization in a number of areas such as aquatics, manual therapy, sports and orthopaedic certifications, lymphedema, spine rehab, and hand therapy certification.

We have a federal mandate to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty by whatever means necessary in our community. Currently we do this by: Helping people on fixed incomes weatherize their homes so they can spend less on PG&E Managing the North State Food Bank, providing lower cost food options for fixed income families. Providing transitional housing to those who might otherwise end up homeless Providing affordable housing options to low income families Butte County is rich in natural beauty, recreation, education and small industry, but is economically depressed. The poverty rate in Butte County from 2009-2013 was 20.4% with a much higher rate in Oroville (38.6%) than Chico (25.9%) or Paradise (15.4%). While incomes have improved for many, a large and growing percentage of the population has not experienced income gains sufficient to escape poverty. Unemployment is typically higher than the State average, which was 15.9% in the same time period. The purpose of the Good News Rescue Mission is to bring Good News to the poor, homeless, or needy of Shasta County by: Sharing the love of God exemplified by the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Providing emergency subsistence services (food, shelter, and clothing). Providing long-term recovery services. Educating and equipping the people of Shasta County to effectively minister to needy people.
