Sakata Seed America was established in 1977 as a research, production and sales division of Sakata Seed Corporation. Our mission is to quickly and efficiently meet industry expectations for quality seed, strong performance and excellent yields, as well as retail and consumer demand for delicious fruit and vegetables. Today, we continue to challenge ourselves to be the industry leader for innovation, quality, reliability and service.

We are a grower-owned and operated organization with over 7,600 acres of pears and cherries grown in California and Oregon. Responsible for 50% of California’s pear volume alone, we are the state’s undisputed pear leader. We are also a Top-5 shipper in the California cherry industry. Rivermaid Trading Company adheres to our own industry-leading standards for product quality and customer service standards – standards designed to simplify the supply chain and provide the freshest, most flavorful eating experience every time.

Since 1951, our mission has been to provide orchardists throughout the western states with top quality fruit and nut trees and the best service in the industry. By combining the tried & true methods of the past with today’s technological advancements in precision agriculture, we’ve been perfecting our growing methods, our rootstock and budwood, and our finished tree quality for over 67 years.

The Wilbur family’s roots in California agriculture date back to 1869. Since their arrival in the Sacramento Valley, the members of the Wilbur family have been pioneers in the farming industry. They were one of the first to plant orchards in the fertile soil of the Yuba and Feather River bottoms– today considered the preeminent prune and walnut producing area of the world. Five generations later, the Wilbur Ranch continues to be a leader in California agriculture with over 3,000 acres of prunes and walnuts. The cornerstone of the Wilbur family’s farming philosophy is good stewardship of the land for future generations. Founded in 1992, Wilbur Packing was launched to ensure that our commitment to excellence in food quality and safety is carried through to the end-user. Since its inception, Wilbur Packing has worked diligently to develop loyal customer networks in the domestic market, as well as in Europe and Asia, with buyers who share our commitment to quality. As a custom packer, we offer our customers a wide array of packaging options to meet the diverse needs of our customers, from products packed in bulk to the most sophisticated retail concepts. Through flexibility and innovation, our company prides itself on being able to meet the needs of the smallest distributors to multinational supermarkets. Because of the vertically integrated structure of our operations, Wilbur Packing Company closely controls the production.

The City of Yuba City was established in 1849 and incorporated in 1908 and provides a variety of municipal services. These include but are not limited to Police, Park, Parks & Rec, Public Works, Water, Waster Water, Economic Development and Finance. Yuba City is home to Sunsweet Prunes and a variety of other agriculturall based businesses and as such is known as Northern California's Agricultural Hub. Historically the City has also been called the "Peach Bowl of the World"​ and the"Prune Capital of the World."​
