Collat Jewish Family Services (CJFS) enhances quality of life and strengthens independence for individuals and families, with a primary focus on older adults, by providing exceptional support services in accordance with Jewish values. CJFS, a United Way partner agency, enables aging-in-place, supports mental health and wellbeing, and provides connection and community to a racially, religiously, and socioeconomically diverse population. Over 75% of our clients are over age 60 and more than half are not of the Jewish faith. Our seasoned professional staff; our comprehensive, client-centered approach to aging and mental health services; and our focus on the development of relationships built on compassion and respect are the keys to our 30+ year success in the Birmingham community.

The mission of the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is to feed people in need today and foster collaborative solutions that will end hunger tomorrow. The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama serves a 12 county area: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Walker, and Winston. In 1982, a grant of $100,000 from the Greater Birmingham Foundation made it possible for the Food Bank to open its doors. At that time, service was provided to Jefferson, Shelby, and Walker counties. Over the last few decades, the number of counties served by the food bank has increased from 3 to 12, and the number of agencies distributing food in Central Alabama has increased from 30 to over 250. We receive food through Feeding America (a national food bank network with more than 200 food bank members), from government agencies, national donors, local donors, and additional food is purchased with monies allocated in our budget. This food is distributed to nonprofit agencies and religious organizations that directly serve the needy through their own programs. These programs include emergency food pantries, shelters for the homeless, soup kitchens, residential facilities, and shelters for abused women and children. Any charitable, non-profit agency meeting the criteria of the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 © (3) may apply to become a Partner Agency of the Food Bank. The agency must then agree to distribute the food directly to the public at no charge. We also provide food directly through Mobile Pantries, our Kids Meals Campaign, and our End Senior Hunger Initiative, among other programs. Foundations Early Learning & Family Center, a Christ-centered preschool in Fairfield, believes that all children should have access to a quality preschool education. Since opening our doors in 2013, Foundations has worked with over 200 at-risk children and their families to help prepare them for success in school and life. Research shows that developmental delays can emerge without proper interactions and stimulation, but with quality preschool programing and parent involvement, different outcomes are possible. Our programs seek to prevent delays while fostering school readiness. Coming alongside parents to equip them to best facilitate their children's development and education is at the heart of our mission.

The mission of SafeHouse is to empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence through support and advocacy and to educate the community to prevent future abuse. SafeHouse accomplishes its mission by providing the following: - Shelter, counseling, case management, community resource referrals, and other services to help clients and their children obtain safe self-sufficiency - Individual and group counseling on the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault for children and adults as well as parenting support - An advocacy program to accompany women to court appearances and educate victims in court about the cycle of violence - Sexual assault and domestic violence advocates on call 24 hours, 7 days a week - Sexual assault advocates accompany victims to the hospital, assist victims through law enforcement, court systems, and provide counseling - Education and awareness programs for schools, hospitals, police departments, courts, social services, and other community members

Hope Inspired Ministries (H.I.M.) is a faith-based, local non-profit, designed to take chronically unemployed men and women and train them to obtain and maintain employment. We do so in a manner that develops individual worth, encourages personal responsibility, and promotes the value and honor of work. Our students participate in over 400 hours of training which includes life skills, employment skills, unpaid internships with local businesses, and G.E.D. preparation. In week 13, we conclude the course with a cap and gown graduation where every student offers a 3-5 minute speech regarding lessons learned in the course. At H.I.M., we believe the best way to help the poor is to train them how to become self-sufficient by utilizing the gifts and abilities that our Creator has bestowed upon each of them.
