Horrible supplemental insurance… I been trying to get my claims taken care of for 9 months… there customer service is a joke…. All you get is a run around. They never return calls or emails. I suggest if your an employer and value your employees you avoid using this company. Sadly my employer used this company….

I was in need of insurance for my company and was referred to this insurance company. My first reach out was around November 15, 2021 requesting a quote. The rep stated she would email me the paperwork. I called back days later stating that I never received it. I stated from the beginning that I needed the policy to start 12/1. I had questions regarding the application she sent me (it was wrong) and I reached out for clarification. No response. i called and spoke to a manger who was going to move this forward. I finally received the correct application, sent it back, no response. Checked in two times looking for an update. Wound up going with another company who was able to back-date my policy. I never received a quote. Not even a response to my emails. If you can't provide me a quote, which is a basic part of the job, how can I trust you if there's a claim? I would never, ever use and suggest you run as the service is horrible. If I could give them negative stars I would.

The job itself is good, but some of the managers make working there almost impossible, they show favoritism and there is a lot of racial undertones in many of the departments.

Update -2☆ Gilsbar is nice and helpful to the insured, but it's been extremely difficult for my Providers to work with them. This typically results in me being grossly overcharged for office visits and treatments because the Doctor's office sees a chart where my deductible isn't met yet, although it really is. They try to contact Gilsbar but it's a super long process (call, get fax, get approval code, call in again) and usually isn't resolved before I leave, so they want to charge me the full amount. It's now a big waste of my time trying to get refunds on what I didn't owe. And this is through Banner Health, their preferred provider network. Original: My employer has self-funded coverage and they use Gilsbar to manage our health insurance. I get the benefits of the Blue Cross Blue Shield network, but with the personal admin/customer service care from Gilsbar. I call it care because I really do feel like they watch out for me as a patient. After I had my son, a bunch of medical bills came flooding in. All I have to do is call Gilsbar and they take care of it for me, even doing 3-way calls with the billing people to make sure they get all of the information now and won't bother me again. It was a Huge stress relief! Sure I wish my premiums were lower (who doesn't?!) but I get fantastic customer care when I contact them and they often go above and beyond to research answers for my questions. I've been covered by Gilsbar 5 years and I recommend them. Thank you for caring!

Most people don’t have a choice on what insurance company their employer chooses...HOWEVER, if you are lucky enough to have a choice avoid Gilsbar like the plague. It might be a great place to work, but let me tell you from first hand experience it is the absolute worst place to have insurance “coverage”. I use the word coverage lightly because it is all a money-making scheme. Gilsbar will cut corners or find loopholes any way that they can. Their customer service is a complete joke and any notion of caring about their members is a fallacy. They might as well remove the rest of their core values and only leave “for reasonable profit” because that is all Gilsbar is about. Finally being insured by a REAL company (Blue Cross Blue Shield) has changed my life.
