Friends Association is one of the longest running child welfare non-profit organizations in Pennsylvania and has its roots in Quaker tradition. Beginning in 1822, a group of abolitionist women in Philadelphia came together to provide a home for children who had lost their parents, many as a result of being held captive and enslaved. Throughout the years, the organization has changed and evolved but has always focused on the protection of children and on recognizing the inherent value of each member of society. In 2010, Friends began to focus its mission entirely on ending family homelessness in Chester County. Friends provides programs and services that prevent homelessness and promote the independence of families with children. We are unique in that we focus on keeping families together during times of crisis while connecting them with strengths-based case management and community resources. We support all families experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness in Chester County structured as they are when we meet them, including single moms and dads, two-parent, multi-generational, grandparent, and LGBTQ+ families. The overarching goal of Friends’ programming is to make homelessness for families in our community rare, brief, and non-recurring by providing emergency housing for families who have lost their homes, and through prevention programs that keep families stably housed while providing essential wrap-around services. Friends offers support for families throughout Chester County through four pillars of service: Preventing homelessness, Providing emergency housing, Partnering with families to support their stability, and Promoting systemic change. We are committed to the vision of creating an equitable community, where every family is healthy, housed, resilient, and can realize their full potential. We believe that housing is a basic human right and that we have the resources, creativity, and drive to change systems and end homelessness for all.

Capital Area Partnership Uplifting People, Inc. has been serving Richmond and the Capital Region of Virginia for more than 50 years. Originally known as the Richmond Community Action Program (RCAP), our private non-profit agency was created under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 as a major component of the Johnson Administration's "War on Poverty." In fellowship with community action programs nationwide, CAPUP has provided programs and services to directly combat the poverty epidemic since it's origination almost six decades ago. Our mission is to combat poverty and poverty-related issues in the Capital Region of Virginia by providing direct action and aid to individuals and families facing hardship.

The Virginia Sexual & Domestic Violence Action Alliance is Virginia's leading voice on sexual and intimate partner violence. As an advocacy organization, we provide the expertise needed to ensure an effective response. As a service provider, we offer people resources for making informed choices. As a membership organization, we build diverse alliances across the state.

Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia, Inc. (HOME) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and a HUD-approved housing counseling agency. Housing Opportunities Made Equal was founded in 1971 to fight discrimination in housing access. Many of HOME's victories are well known, setting Supreme Court precedents and providing national impact. HOME's mission is to ensure equal access to housing for all people.

The Virginia Beach CDC is an award-winning nonprofit with nearly 30 years of experience providing quality affordable housing opportunities for low and moderate income families. The total assessed value of our properties exceeds $41 million, making us one of the largest property owners in Virginia Beach. Since the Virginia Beach CDC was established in 1985, we have housed over 6,200 individuals in safe, decent and affordable communities. We have also provided supportive services including case management and direct financial assistance to over 8,000 individuals who had experienced housing crises. Our ongoing efforts will bring housing stability to individuals and communities alike and serve as a crucial step in making communities whole.

The Doorways formerly Hospital Hospitality House (HHH) is an independent 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organziation, governed by a volunteer board of trustees. The Doorways provides lodging and non-medical services to families and individuals in medical crisis. Guests are referred from physicians, staff, and social workers from area hospitals. Our mission is to provide lodging and support for patients and their loved ones who need to be close to the hospital but not far from the feeling of home.

Poverty and injustice have many causes. The 162 Caritas national members believe they can do more to combat them by combining their resources. National members come under the umbrella of Caritas Internationalis, with its headquarters in the Vatican City, and representatives at the United Nations in New York and Geneva, Rome, and Paris.

United Way believes we can achieve more together than any of us could on our own. We unite people, organizations, and resources to improve lives in the VA Peninsula. Through our partnerships, we deliver holistic solutions to break the cycle of poverty. United Way of the Virginia Peninsula serves the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and Williamsburg, and the counties of Gloucester, James City, Mathews and York.

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank has been a community leader in providing food security to residents across the Greater Peninsula. Since 1986, we have provided over 236 million meals to residents throughout our service area, which encompasses the Cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and Williamsburg, and the Counties of Gloucester, James City, Mathews, Surry and York. In order to sustain the ever-growing need, the Foodbank collaborates with over 200 partner agencies, made up of local churches, food pantries, soup kitchens, children’s and adult homes/shelters, and other community centers that people turn to in times of need.

World Pediatric Project (WPP) heals children and advances pediatric healthcare in the world. Nine out of ten children in low resource countries lack access to basic surgical care. Every child, regardless of geography, deserves access to quality critical care in order to live a full and productive life. What does World Pediatric Project do? Teams: We mobilize diagnostic and surgery teams to heal children who lack access to pediatric specialist care. Referrals: We connect children to complex surgical care through an expansive network of partner hospitals internationally and in the United States. Training: We train local doctors, nurses, and health workers in our partner countries to build local healthcare capacity. Even as we provide care to thousands of children every year, hundreds more still wait to receive the care they need. Our capacity to reach these children, and your support of this effort, is amplified through the in-kind donations of doctors and hospitals.
