For over 40 years, Bay Aging has been caring for older adults and people with disabilities in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula with meals, home and personal care, public transportation, home repairs and living options. Our goal is to help people live independently in their own homes and communities surrounded by their own things and, wherever possible, their families and friends. Our top priority is to keep independence, home and community at the hub of life in the rural counties we serve. Last year Bay Aging’s services affected over 23,000 lives! Every year, we: • Deliver over 144,000 meals to those who might otherwise not have a reliable source of food. • Provide over 140,000 public transportation rides that help people of all ages access jobs, health services, education and other consumer needs. To help them realize this goal, Bay Aging’s Housing Division owns and operates ten income-restricted senior apartment complexes throughout the region providing safe and affordable homes for 366 full-time residents. Additionally, residents benefit from receiving the social supports they need to ensure healthy, independent living. Bay Aging’s health division provides in-home care and companionship services and transitional care services for recently discharged at-risk, chronically ill patients through our VAAACares® program. Adult day care provides a safe haven for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other disabilities so that they can thrive and live with their families longer. The Richmond SPCA, founded in 1891, is a non-profit, no-kill humane organization dedicated to the principle that every life is precious. The Richmond SPCA is a national leader in humane care and education, having developed numerous lifesaving programs and services including those dedicated to adoption, rehabilitation, sterilization and education. We save the lives of 4,000 homeless animals each year and care for about 350 cats and dogs daily. The Richmond SPCA is not affiliated with any other private animal welfare organization or SPCA but we regularly transfer pets from local municipal agencies into our care so that they may receive lifesaving treatment and be adopted to loving new homes.

Founded in 1992, the Virginia Health Care Foundation is a non-profit, public-private partnership. Its mission is to increase access to primary health care for uninsured and medically underserved Virginians. VHCF's vision is for all Virginians to have the medical, behavioral health, and dental care they need - preferably via health insurance - otherwise, through a well-financed, professionally run healthcare safety net (HSN; free clinics and community health centers) and via a sufficient and well-distributed health workforce. To that end, VHCF takes a multi-faceted approach, working on the following five fronts: 1) Maximize the number of Virginians with state/federal sponsored health insurance coverage; 2) Create or expand HSN practices to provide free or low-cost care for uninsured and medically underserved Virginians; 3) Increase the number and improve the distribution of needed health professionals throughout the state; 4) Introduce and promote innovative service delivery models and best practices within the HSN (BH integration, Population Health, tele-mental health, are recent examples); and 5) Engage in health policy/systems development (e.g., adding adult dental benefit to Medicaid).

The Virginia Poverty Law Center (VPLC) is committed to leading and coordinating efforts to seek justice in civil legal matters for lower-income Virginians. Since 1978, we have addressed the civil legal needs of Virginia’s lower-income families by engaging in legislative advocacy and by providing leadership, technical assistance and public education to legal aid staff, private bar attorneys and low-income clients. We are the only statewide organization conducting trainings that focus exclusively on the legal rights of lower-income Virginians and are instrumental in coordinating the work of the statewide legal aid community.
