As a non-profit built on Christian values, we celebrate the progression of life and dignity of the individual by empowering all members of our community to live, work and serve to their fullest potential. Twin Lakes began as a legacy of the family of Wade G. and Agnes Coble. The local church formed Lutheran Retirement Ministries of Alamance County, NC and began the mission which became Twin Lakes Community. Twin Lakes first opened its doors in April 1983 with Coble Healthcare, three apartment buildings and ten cottages. By all measures our mission has been successful. Twin Lakes has served thousands of residents and family members from throughout the United States and has grown to include a campus of over 500 independent living residents, in addition to our residents in other levels of care. Twin Lakes encompasses Independent Living, Assisted Living, Healthcare and Rehabilitation and Memory Care residences. Twin Lakes Community is designated by the North Carolina Department of Insurance as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). We are fully accredited by the Commission of Rehabilitation Facilities- Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC). We have two 5-star rated skilled nursing facilities and our bonds are rated A- by Fitch.

Total Action for Progress, or TAP, helps individuals and families achieve economic and personal independence through education, employment, affordable housing, and safe and healthy environments. For over 50 years we have worked to restore hope, dignity, and opportunity for those who want to claim their potential or need a second chance. With over 25 programs, we make education, jobs, and safe places to live a reality. .......... TAP is an independent community action agency that is not affiliated with a larger franchise—nor are we a government agency. This means money that is raised for TAP stays here in SW VA, invested in the people that we serve. We do not provide "handouts"​.
