A graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, he joined the world’s largest public accounting firm, Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., in Dallas, Texas. While there he performed audit and tax work in the Private Business Advisory Services Division whose clients included privately-held high tech, oil & gas, and start-up companies. He went on to become the Chief Financial Officer of National Strategies and Marketing Group, a national level political consulting company, the Controller of Management Information Consulting, one of INC Magazine’s 500 fastest-growing companies in the United States, and then Vice President and part owner of Crown Communications, a Federal Aviation Administration government consulting company, all in the Washington, D.C. area.
