White’s Nursery was founded in the summer of 1956 by Norman White and his wife Hetty. Mr. White constructed the first greenhouse of glass and began growing chrysanthemums while working full time as a naval architect at the Naval shipyard. With the help of his family, caring employees, and high quality standards, the business has grown and diversified. Mr. White was born and reared on the same tract of land that White’s Nursery is located on today. Mr. White’s father, Willis Sheridan White, was the original lover of flowers, devoting a large portion of his farm to the production of cut flowers. White’s Nursery and Greenhouses specializes in growing potted chrysanthemums, hanging baskets, bedding plants, many potted blooming plant varieties, and holiday flowering crops. (Poinsettias, Easter Lilies) White’s are innovators of many chrysanthemum-growing techniques with quality that is second to none. Mr. White and his growers are constantly trying to perfect the art of growing. This year we are celebrating the 63rd anniversary of the Nursery and Greenhouses. Currently, White’s Nursery has over 21 acres of wholesale greenhouses.
