New River Community Action is a non-profit organization working hand-in-hand with community groups to address local conditions of poverty in the New River Valley (Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, Radford, and Pulaski), Virginia. We work with our community's most vulnerable residents including the homeless and ex-offenders. We also offer programs to low-income families with young children. We serve about 12,000 New River Valley residents each year. We are part of a network of approximately 1,000 community action agencies nationwide and we recently celebrated our 50th anniversary!

Crisis Control Ministry's mission is to assist people in crisis to meet essential life needs and to become self-sufficient. We believe that food, shelter, and medicine are basic human needs and that we can meet the needs of people in Forsyth County who are in crisis and dealing with unfortunate circumstances. As a trusted resource since 1973, we serve residents of our community and provide over $3 million worth of services annually.

Our mission is to feed Southwest Virginia's hungry through a network of partners and engage our region in the fight to end hunger. The food bank serves 26 counties and 9 cities across a region where 1 in 8 people and 1 in 5 kids face hunger. We host engaging and meaningful corporate volunteer experiences at all three locations, including the Salem Distribution Center, the Abingdon Distribution Center, and the Community Solutions Center in Roanoke's Melrose neighborhood.

From newborns to adults, Family Services, Inc. (FSI), a part of the Sheppard Pratt Health System, provides high-quality services to foster health and well-being in the home, school and community. Founded in 1908, FSI serves over 17,000 of the most vulnerable residents and operates over 30 programs throughout Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. With the mission statement "helping hurting people in Jesus'​ name, The Rescue Mission of Roanoke is a comprehensive crisis intervention center for men, women, and children. It offers an array of life-saving services aimed at transformation and restoration for families and individuals seeking to overcome homelessness, hunger, addiction, abuse, and disabilities.

*Coordinate and ensure that the core services of the Early Education Services department are being provided equitably.*Supervise and evaluate the Early Education Specialist completing a minimum of an annual written performance review.*Collect information about the child care demand as well as the existing child care population.*When needed, assess program/classroom needs utilizing appropriate classroom assessment tools and collaboratively develop individualized goals and action plans.*Provide technical assistance to administrators and early educators as needed through consultation, mentoring and coaching to help improve their program quality.*Assist in providing technical assistance and resources to individuals interested in opening a childcare facility.*Develop and manage the Smart Start budget for the Early Education Services activities.*Coordinate the annual training calendar for the early education community.*Obtain approval for all trainings from DCDEE, contract with trainers, reserve locations, and assist Administrative Assistant with managing registration and payment.*Develop and deliver in-service trainings regularly and coordinate training series for administrators, early educators or parents when appropriate.*Coordinate and facilitate bi-monthly Child Care Collaboration Support Team meetings.*Manage the Early Education Services database for the tracking of training attendance, technical assistance visits, and Education Incentives applications.*Complete Quarterly Reports for all programs listed above and review information with the Program Coordinator/Evaluator and/or Contracted Evaluator and the Executive Director.*Plan and coordinate special childcare events that includes the Week of The Young Child annual children’s parade and Early Educator Celebration.*Serve on relevant agency and community committees as an early childhood representative for RCPC.

Experiment In Self Reliance (ESR) is a nonprofit Community Action Agency established in 1964 as part of the War on Poverty. ESR offers case management, personal and budget counseling, first time home ownership training, educational assistance, economic literacy training, housing assistance, and other services for working homeless and working low-income residents of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area in North Carolina. Our programs include: Self-Sufficiency - Educational assistance, Economic Literacy, employment retention, budgeting Housing Services - Housing related services for working homeless clients, housing placement Individual Development Accounts (IDA) - First time home ownership program for working low income Forsyth Free Tax (EITC/VITA) - Free tax return preparation, economic literacy (open to the public) We are a 501(c)3 agency, receiving funding through the City of Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, and Federal block grants, as well as private individual and foundation grants and gifts.
