Founded in 1981, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is the largest organization alleviating hunger in western and central Virginia. Headquartered in Verona, VA, we serve neighbors in need in 25 counties and nine cities through distribution centers in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Winchester and Verona. We distribute nearly 22 million pounds of food annually to 109,500 people each month through a network of more than 400 community partners – food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools, churches and other non-profit groups. At People Places, we connect kids to families and a safe place they can call home. We pride ourselves on the support we offer our foster kids and foster parents on their journeys. We also have a K-8 Special Education day school called Pygmalion. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia offer a lineup of nationally recognized programs that address today’s most pressing youth issues. For more than 20 years, our core programs have engaged young people in activities with adults and peers, building our kids’ self-esteem and helping them reach their full potential. With locations in Albemarle, Charlottesville, Madison and Orange, our Clubs now serve more than 2,000 kids annually.

Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA) has been serving families in the Charlottesville, Virginia area since 1965. Our service area includes the City of Charlottesville, and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson. As one of more than one thousand Community Action Agencies nationwide, our mission is to improve the lives of low-income individuals by helping them become self-reliant. We partner with individuals and families living below 125% of the Federal poverty to promote economic empowerment, equitable access to healthcare and nutritional supports, and the education and development of the whole family.
