The LIUNA National (Industrial) Pension Fund (LNIPF) was founded in 1967 by the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) and employers of LIUNA members for the purpose of providing retirement income benefits. Established for non-construction workers, LNIPF covers workers in a broad range of employment, including professional, dental, manufacturing, and service contracts. Federal government, public sector and others in various job classifications are also covered by the Fund. There are more than 24,000 active participants covered by the fund while more than 13,000 retirees are receiving benefits. LNIPF is governed by a Board of Trustees that is composed of three Union Trustees and three Employer Trustees. The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) is the responsible UAE-based federal authority mandated to apply pension and retirement benefits for Emiratis (males/females) working in a public or private sector in the UAE or GCC Region, given that they are between 18 to 60 years of age and are fit to work.
