The Lighthouse of Houston is a private, nonprofit education and service center dedicated to assisting blind and visually impaired people to live independently. The Lighthouse serves approximately 5, 000 people each year and is a member agency of the United Way of Greater Houston. The primary goal of the Lighthouse of Houston is direct service to the individual. This includes not only providing direct service, but a continual commitment to improving the quality and relevance of this service. All other organizational activities and functions are in support of this primary focus and have as their goal the development and dissemination of better service designs and interventions in order to enhance the optimal functioning of the individual.

The Houston Area Women's Center (HAWC) is Houston's largest non-profit support services for domestic violence and sexual assault. HAWC works to end domestic and sexual violence and supports all in building safe and healthy lives through advocacy, counseling, education, shelter and support services. Our services are free, confidential and available to everyone.

The mission of Boys and Girls Country of Houston, Inc. (BGC) is to change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a Christian home environment, raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults. Vision: That every child has a place to grow up and a sense of being home. Located 35 miles northwest of downtown Houston, Boys and Girls Country can accommodate 88 children ages 5 to 18. Children live on campus in cottages with trained Teaching Parents and attend public schools. Poverty, abuse and neglect all have a negative effect on children and can impede their chances of personal success. Boys and Girls Country addresses a child’s well-being, helping to break the cycle of poverty for our children by providing a secure, stable, Christian home environment with an emphasis on education, building healthy relationships, and setting goals for the future. We do this with broad-based financial support, hundreds of volunteers, and the prayers of thousands.

The Women’s Home builds communities that strengthen women and support families as they reclaim their stability. Since our creation in 1957, we have fulfilled this mi3ssion by providing housing and supportive services to vulnerable women and families in the Houston area. Our programs serve women and families who are homeless or vulnerable to homelessness - many have histories of addiction, mental illness, and trauma. Through our long-term residential treatment program in Montrose and our affordable housing programs and our Mabee WholeLife® Service Center in Spring Branch, our clients cultivate the skills and self-esteem they need to overcome crisis, and live a healthy, resilient life.

Fort Bend Women’s Center has been bringing healing and hope to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault since 1980. Our mission is to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children to achieve safety and self-sufficiency, while striving to prevent violence against women. We are the only dedicated domestic violence and sexual assault emergency shelter and crisis hotline in Fort Bend County. In addition to these crisis intervention services, we are also the largest regional provider of non-residential services such as counseling, case management, advocacy and other support services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Fort Bend Women’s Center is also a major provider of housing programs, including short to long term assistance, for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our clients are primarily from Fort Bend and Harris counties though our services are open to any survivor of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. We have a history of successfully identifying and adopting innovative approaches to victim services, driven by our commitment to providing the most effective support possible to the survivors we serve. Examples include our use of positive reinforcement, motivational interviewing, the early adoption of mobile advocacy and the introduction of neurofeedback training and behavioral therapy, to assist clients living with Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or other mental health disorders. We are currently the only agency to offer this treatment to domestic violence and sexual assault victims.

SERJobs is a community-based, non-profit organization helping individuals from low-income communities transform their lives through education, training, employment, and financial empowerment services. SER serves over 4,000 people annually throughout a 13-county region (including Harris, Fort Bend, and Galveston Counties) and offers tailored services for youth/young adults (16-24), veterans, ex-offenders, families, and individuals. Hands of Healing is a non-profit Organization committed to make a difference in the lives of Children, Youth and Families, by seeding Health, Happiness and Hope, one home at a time. Our Organization provides a wide array of social services to underserved and "at risk" communities, serving multiple contracts with the Texas Department of Family Protective Services (DFPS) and Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC). We currently operate two General Residential Operation facilities, providing services to 33 male youth, in Baytown TX, and 30 male youth in Harlingen TX, ages 8-17, . Each program is regionally, demographically and culturally supportive and serve the needs of youth who are a ward of the state, from all regions of Texas. As an Organization providing wraparound services, Hands of Healing possesses a license and contract(s) with the state of Texas, to provide Foster Care credentialing. This includes, marketing and procuring potential Foster Parents, providing Foster Home development, provide Foster Parent training with the goal of placing, ages 1 day to 17 years old in suitable Foster homes. Our agency is licensed to provide these services in both our Houston and Harlingen offices. In June of 2020, we will also be contracted with the state of Texas to complete adoption services. Our contracts for Substance Abuse, Substance Use, and Evaluation and Treatment with the state, as well as our contracts with Medicaid and multiple Managed Care Operations are our primary referral source for clients in need of therapeutic services. These services include individual and group therapy, outpatient drug treatment, drug education, anger management, parenting classes and much more. These services are currently available onsite in our Baytown office and will be available in our Harlingen office by July 2020.
