Cy-Hope was birthed in 2011 by a core group of people concerned about the children in our community. CFISD is the third largest school district in Texas, and the largest non-urban school district in the country. CFISD is made up of a majority Latino (45%), Caucasian (24%) and African American (18%) students, with half of the over 117,000 students in CFISD qualifying as economically disadvantaged by federal standards. We have many families and students struggling with hunger, mental health, finishing school, and limited access to enriching experiences like organized sports, college prep or certification classes, private music lessons and summer camp. Cy-Hope strives to fill in these gaps through our programs, partnering with other community organizations to make sure we do not duplicate efforts, but instead collaborate to meet the needs of our community. Family Ties provides Crisis Intervention and Advocacy services to Child Victims and their families as well as Prevention Services to the community. HomeAid Houston, a 501(c)(3) charity sponsored by the Greater Houston Builders Association, identifies long term, stable homeless care providers who need additional capacity and pairs them with GHBA builders, vendors and suppliers who donate their time, materials and labor to help build transitional homeless shelters. Our agencies serve those who are homeless: -Women in Crisis Pregnancy -Victims of Domestic Violence and Spousal Desertion -Abused Children -Mentally Challenged -Adults Living with HIV/AIDS -Families & individuals Homeless as a result of job loss or catastrophic illness -Individuals and families suffering from drug and alcohol abuse -Male & Female Veterans In addition, HomeAid Houston serves as a housing developer and liaison between homeless care providers, the community at large, volunteers, residential builders, remodelers and developers and their suppliers and vendors. Since 2003, HomeAid Houston has added 400 beds to the Houston homeless community, providing days and nights of care for over 5000 men, women and children. The agency is currently working on several major construction projects as well as many HomeAid Care projects. By 2020, HomeAid Houston will have added 600 beds and $12 million in housing and improvements to Houston's homeless community, by being the residential construction resource of choice for all homeless care providers in the greater Houston area.

We are a faith-based shelter located in Houston, Texas that empowers, enriches and restores the lives of homeless women and children and provides outreach services to to communities in need, since 1961. The Mission of Yahweh has served homeless women and their children since 1961. The doors are always open for families in crisis. We are a truly unique refuge that not only gives food, clothing and shelter, but also is committed to helping residents to become self-sufficient, productive members of society. The Mission supports more than 2,300 residential stays each month. We also provide thousands of Houston/Carverdale-area residents with donations of food, clothing, school supplies and other necessities.

Horizon Outreach's mission is "Giving Everyone A New Start". We accomplish this mission by providing programs that decrease the effects of challenging life situations on the family.We serve military, non/military families including at risk youth. Our programs provide key resources that: increase self-sufficiency, employability in career positions, workforce development/certifications, access to permanent affordable housing and overall health and wellness of the family. Our services have proven beneficial to the community as evidenced by the 4,500 plus individuals & families (this number includes 1,700 military families) Horizon Outreach has connected to resources and services since being founded since 2010. As discussed, Horizon Outreach has 5 programs. The program that I would like to highlight, is the Horizon Eagle Fatherhood Program. This program was designed to help military and non-military fathers be better dads. Over 1,064 fathers have completed the Horizon Eagle Program. Each father gained skills to improve their relationships, parenting skills and employment skills. With our new grant we will be assisting young teen fathers to find employment and to gain parenting skills. In addition, Horizon Outreach provides case management to assist fathers and families with housing, rental/utility assistance, employment, and other needs. Horizon Outreach also pays for Forklift Training, TWIC (transportation worker’s identification card) Cards and CDL (Commercial Driver’s Licensing/Training) for fathers as well.
