SECURITY STATE BANK & TRUST
SECURITY STATE BANK & TRUST
Fredericksburg, Texas
100-499 employees
From Simple Beginnings: Security State Bank & Trust was born in the heart of Fredericksburg, Texas. In 1941, a group of local businessmen saw a need for a new bank to better serve the community’s needs. We officially opened for business in the former Buckhorn Saloon building at 201 West Main Street where we still reside. The white-tailed deer is used in our logo as a salute to the simple beginnings of our first property. When times get tough, the tough grow. In the late 1980’s, while other banks throughout Texas were experiencing difficulty and turmoil, we maintained solid financial performance. This provided the opportunity to grow the market base through acquisitions and new branches. We now have branches in 17 Texas Hill Country communities and remain poised for continued growth as a strong privately owned community bank. We can meet your banking needs whether you enjoy visiting our branches and working with our friendly banking professionals or the convenience of banking online; anytime, anywhere. You decide – we’re here for you. We're proud to say that we are small enough to know you by name and large enough to serve your banking needs. UNITED TEXAS CREDIT UNION
UNITED TEXAS CREDIT UNION
San Antonio, Texas
50-99 employees
From our start as the credit union for employees of the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) to now, United Texas Credit Union has been a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative with the mission of improving the financial well-being of our members and the communities we serve. In April 1955, a group of 19 USAA employees each deposited $5.00 to start the credit union. After a short time, the credit union made its first loan of $85 to reupholster a sofa, which set the institution on a path to becoming self-sustaining. Since then, we've gradually expanded our field of membership to include people who live, work, worship, and go to school in Bexar, Kendall, Comal, and Tarrant Counties and grown into a full-service financial institution with six locations, over 20,000 members and almost $400 million in assets. Even with our extraordinary growth, we continue to deliver friendly service, done right.

The Hondo National Bank originated in 1901 with the chartering of the First National Bank of Hondo, which was located in Hondo, Texas, approximately 35 miles west of San Antonio, Texas. The Hondo State Bank opened in 1906 at the same location. In 1936 the two banks merged into a new chartered bank called The Hondo National Bank with total capital of $60,000. On November 31, 1950, the bank moved to its new quarters on 18th Street in Hondo. The bank has operated continuously since the inception of the two banks in the early 1900’s and weathered the "Great Depression", the "Banking Crisis of the 1980s", and the “Great Recession of 2008-2009.” A single office operated in Hondo until branch banking was permitted in Texas. In 1998 the bank’s Bandera Branch was established, in 2003 the Uvalde Branch was opened, and in 2006 the Leakey Branch was opened.  The bank purchased Uvalde National Bank in 2013 and most recently opened a branch in Blanco, Texas in 2018. The bank now has 5 locations spread across 5 counties and has more than tripled its asset size during the last ten years. The bank’s Mission Statement is as follows: “It is our desire to grow while profitably providing superior financial services to our customers. We will accomplish this by offering "one-on-one" customer service in a friendly atmosphere, developing community ties, and ensuring the highest efficiencies, integrity, and honesty while maintaining security and confidentiality.”
