FIGHTING HUNGER AND FEEDING HOPE IN SAN ANTONIO AND SOUTHWEST TEXAS. The San Antonio Food Bank takes pride in fighting hunger, feeding hope in our 16 county service area. We believe that no child should go to bed hungry, adults should not have to choose between a hot meal and utilities, nor a senior sacrifice medical care for the sake of a meal. Founded in 1980, The San Antonio Food Bank has quickly grown to serve 58,000 individuals a week in one of the largest service areas in Texas. Our focus is for clients to have food for today but to also have the resources to be self-sufficient in the future. Fighting hunger is our number one priority but we also serve to educate and provide assistance in many other ways. We achieve this through our variety of programs and resources available to families, individuals, seniors, children, and military members in need. Vibrant Works, formerly known as San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and Vision Impaired, is a private, nonprofit 501(C)3 organization empowering people with vision loss since 1933. We provide rehabilitation services and employment for people who are blind and vision impaired.

Haven for Hope’s mission is to offer a place of hope and new beginnings. We do this by providing, coordinating and delivering an efficient system of care for people experiencing homelessness in Bexar County. Approximately 1,700 men, women and children are served daily on our campus. We are driven by our Core Values: Radical Compassion Servant Leadership Driven by Hope Pursuit of Excellence. The individual is at the center of all of our services. We are: Trauma Informed - We recognize and understand the role trauma plays in the lives of those we serve. Recovery Oriented - We work with our clients to help them recover from conditions associated with mental health, substance abuse and trauma. Peer Supported - We recognize the importance of lived experience in those we serve. Collaborative - We work with more than 140 partner organizations to provide over 300 comprehensive services.

We Build for Better! Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio works with low-income families who would not otherwise be able to afford a home. We partner with hardworking families in need and help them build affordable homes for themselves and their families at no interest and no profit. Family Service is the oldest human service nonprofit in San Antonio, founded in 1903. Our organization provides services to more than 98,000 individuals and families annually. The founders had faith that their humanitarian outreach could help turn around the lives of people who had lost their jobs, homes, security and hope. Parent/Child Incorporated continues to be a driving force in early childhood development, having trained, skilled staff working with young children and families that includes a seasoned management staff. The parents, staff, volunteers, and partners are PCI’s biggest asset and are the focus of special training, special activities/events, volunteer/partnership recognitions, advisory committees, being part of the Board of Directors, Policy Council, Parent Center Committees and the Male Initiative (Fatherhood Initiative), Teacher of the Year Recognitions, ECC of the Year Recognitions, and the list goes on. The assessment tool, “Teaching Strategies Gold” is in place to allow staff and parents to make data-driven decisions regarding developmental and educational outcomes to ensure school readiness. The families and community will benefit from this assessment as evidenced by children having a greater head start in their education and being school ready with the inclusion of the parents in the learning process. The historical framework put in place by the founder of PCI many years ago is still in place today, but on a much grander scale and much more enhanced. The biggest difference between yesterday and today is PCI is now a Grantee of all of our programs and not a Delegate. The agency continues to be innovative with being the first to begin something new within PCI. As PCI successfully strives to bring the best quality services to the children and families of San Antonio and Bexar County, we continue to look to expand our services keeping with our mission “To provide high-quality early childhood developmental and educational services in order to empower our children and their families to become responsible citizens who value education and community.”
