Began career as intern, working to create the El Paso Collaborative for Community & Economic Development - a Ford Foundation seeded initiative to support affordable housing development in El Paso, Texas. Hired as program staff person and worked with increasing responsibilities over the next nine years. Among my work responsibilities and accomplishments: -Conducted review of competitive and supporting organizations’ grantmaking portfolio. Oversaw grantmaking portfolio that included tri-state and binational programs. -Managed portfolio of bi-national (US/Mexico) grantmaking initiatives with emphasis on health and human services, community development and the environmental projects. -Served as project coordinator for the adaptive reuse and restoration of the Plaza Theatre, a 1920's atmospheric vaudeville movie palace. Responsibilities included raising funds and community visibility for the initiative and identifying and securing funding for the capital campaign.
