Genan is the largest recycler of End-of-Life Tyres (ELTs) in the world. We are committed to a sustainable planet, and we believe that true recycling is best achieved through innovation, quality and transparency. Our philosophy is that sustainability is a shared responsibility, and we devote our efforts to continuously finding new and innovative ways to recycle ELTs. Each year, millions of tons of tyres are worn out; yet, although they are no longer fit for the roads, they still represent a massive resource. By shredding, granulating and milling end-of-life tyres and using the rubber granules and powders for various applications, we give tyres a second life. Recycled tyre rubber may even be used for the production of new tyres, substituting virgin material for a sustainable cradle-to-cradle recycling. This is the core of the Genan concept: reusing materials of excellent quality in an environmentally sustainable way, thereby saving resources. Compared to both incineration and civil engineering applications, recycling of ELTs is by far the most environment-friendly and sustainable solution to what would otherwise be a waste problem. The recycling process results in significantly less CO2 emission than the incineration of tyres in e.g. cement kilns: an estimated 1.1 tons less CO2 per 1 ton of tyres – indeed a substantial reduction of global warming potential (GWP). In average, a tyre consists of 75% rubber, 15% steel and 10% textile fibers. When separated through the Genan process technology, all these materials can be recycled. At Genan, sustainability is our core value, and we are constantly optimising our processes and diversifying our products – to the benefit of our customers, the environment and the global community.
