I worked at TAMC while attending college full-time. The staff encouraged me to learn all aspects of business at the clinic, from patient care to office management, billing, and administration. I performed venipunctures and in-office laboratory tests, assisted in minor surgical procedures, performed sutures, and administered injections. I also held an NCT X-Ray Technician certification and routinely performed x-ray exams as required and developed the films myself in a darkroom. TAMC served a demographic of roughly 80% Hispanic patients. Having a large exposure to the Spanish language during my employment there, I learned to speak, read, and write Spanish with professional proficiency.
