Developed all internal functions from 1991 to 1995, including Finance, Provider Relations, Contracting, Quality Management and Marketing. Reorganized company to prepare for significant growth in 1995. Advanced to Chief Operating Officer in 1995 and was instrumental in achieving 100% sales growth from 1995 to 1997. Promoted to CEO of newly formed hospital/physician joint venture PHO in 1997. Responsible for all managed care operations for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and MetroCare Physicians via Health Choice PHO, including Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid contracting. Selected Results: • Achieved substantial turnaround in profitable market share with Health Choice becoming clear managed care market leader by 2002, and enjoyed 52% share of area commercial market via self-funded, insured, ASO and national network clients. • Created and grew the "Practice Enhancement Center" and “Health Choice University” to assist practices in workforce development, gaining economies of scale to employ electronic health record, practice management, billing and other applications thereby improving physician satisfaction and loyalty by over 20% in annual survey process. • Developed highly productive information technology department that enabled PHO to cut expenses and FTEs while increasing market share. • Initiated and managed long-term payer relationships that provide over a 10% margin to the health system for commercial patients and enabling a socially responsible mission by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. • Created successful joint ventures with physicians, including three highly profitable surgery centers. • Wrote the business plan for and achieved funding for a successful claims administrator, Mid-South Administrative Group, in 2003 as a spin-off from PHO and thereby fulfilling key strategic objective for self-funded clients.•
