The heart of our work at Abbott House is dedicated to helping human beings recover from deep trauma, or intervening to prevent and minimize trauma in the first place. We support nearly 2,500 children in foster care, unaccompanied immigrant children, struggling families and adults with developmental disabilities in the New York Metropolitan Area and the Hudson Valley. We build lasting foundations to support children, families and adults with complex needs. They frequently come to us from trauma-ridden pasts and often have lost their sense of place in the world. They come to us with the notion of a future that is stalled in the present. Our goal is to help them create a durable sense of family, home and community, and prepare them for a promising future. Family comes first at Abbott House. We work hard to reunite families and create new ones so those entrusted to our care feel a sense of belonging rooted in hope and community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire provides developmentally appropriate programs for children of all ages that enable each child to grow and learn at their own pace. Children and youth are given the opportunity for individual development and exploration through an environment that is creative, stimulating and nurturing. Serving children 4 weeks to age 18, Boys & Girls Club works to prepare children for the future seamlessly allowing them to move through the organizations programming from infancy to high school graduation.

We are a hunger relief organization and we are fighting daily to eliminate hunger in this state. Most importantly, we are doing it with your help. In 2016, Feeding South Dakota as a whole distributed 13.5 million pounds of food in this fight against hunger. Our partnership with Feeding America provides us with access to millions of pounds of food product that is donated by corporations all across America. It is through this affiliation that we are able to provide a wider variety of store shelf quality food to our organizations. Every single week, Feeding South Dakota assists in providing temporary food assistance to approximately 21,000 hungry individuals and families in our state and our BackPack Program gives food every weekend to nearly 5,500 kids who otherwise might go hungry. Your donations of money, food and time allow Feeding South Dakota to positively impact thousands of people every year. Real people.
