Verne Smith Center was established by then SC Senator J. Verne Smith, who saw the need for bringing services to the people and asked Greer Relief to take on the responsibility of managing the program. The one-stop center was founded with funding provided by state agencies and the City of Greer, and has served the community as a hub of job, health, family, disability, and emergency services since that time.
