Managed the Human Resources function for this 70+ employee for-profit mental health provider. Developed employee and independent contractor MS Access databases, as well as new job descriptions and performance appraisals. Oversaw workers’ compensation, and unemployment compensation. Guided staff regarding benefits, FMLA leaves, and other leaves of absence. Supported and led managers and supervisors in employee relations and disciplinary issues, and collaborated with managers on the recruitment and hiring process. Contributed to decision making as a member of the management team, regarding HR issues.
Key Accomplishments:
• Rewrote employee handbook, revising outdated policies and adding new policies to ensure legal compliance
• Reduced employer rates for unemployment and for workers’ compensation insurances
• Created a tracking system for hours worked in anticipation of the Affordable Care Act, due to the number of employees working between 20 and 30 hours per week
• Updated company HIPAA policy
• Developed and implemented a Hazard Communication Plan for all company departments
