Keystone Human Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the human spirit of all people. Since 1972, we have worked to promoting inclusion, creating opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to fully participate in their communities and fully enjoy their human rights. We provide community-based services to children and adults with autism, individuals with intellectual disabilities, and adults experiencing mental illness. People with intellectual disabilities have a safe place to live at CPARC, and services that encourage them to grow. “CPARC helps us grow and grow and grow, like a flower,” says Bryan, one of the folks we support. Just 60 years ago, people with disabilities were living in institutional settings. At that time, the only option for parents of a child with a disability was to place their child in a state institution. A group of concerned parents created CPARC in 1953 to offer an alternative to institutionalization for their children with special needs. The mission of The Arc of Cumberland & Perry Counties (CPARC) is to empower, inspire, and educate people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and the community. “You help people, like my son, feel self-sufficient,” one mother says.
