In 1991 the company doubled its workforce and available equipment with the purchase of the operations of a retiring highway contractor. This growth enabled Smith & Company to complete several larger projects, including a mile-long bridge on State Highway 242, and a new road and bridge over the Trinity River, just south of the Lake Livingston Dam. Throughout this time, the company continued to serve its existing customer base, completing numerous industrial and private projects. Today, Smith & Company is in a unique position to serve its customers in Montgomery and surrounding counties with a complete package of road building services and materials.
